Boost Your Health This Fall With a Sauna

Boost Your Health This Fall With a Sauna

People have been enjoying the benefits of saunas for thousands of years. The sauna we know today originated in Finland more than 2,000 years ago and has gained increasing popularity in the United States.

Saunas are generally very simple areas, lined with wooden walls and benches. The temperature ranges from 90 degrees to 185 degrees. There is very low humidity, so the heat feels drier.

Most sauna sessions last between 10 to 20 minutes, plus around that same time cooling down in a shower, pool, or cooler dressing area nearby. The experience aims to help you relax, unwind, and destress, but it can be good for your well-being and vitality.

The benefits are so worthwhile that EuroSpa Aromatics has created products to support this practice and augment the amazing effects. Here are some ways that you can boost your health this fall with a sauna.

Detoxify Your Body

A session in the sauna can flush toxins from your body. The heat increases your body’s temperature and blood flow, which activates your sweat glands. Deep sweating forces the toxins out of our bodies. This response is similar to what happens during intense exercise.

Breathe Easier

If you are fighting congestion, sinus, or allergy-related issues, saunas can provide relief from the symptoms. The warmth can help open up nasal passageways and the sinuses, easing the pain and annoyance of sinus pressure.

Fight Off Germs

Exposing your body to the heat from a sauna will kick your immune system into high gear. The heat will enable your body to rapidly produce more white blood cells, which is how our bodies fight infections, colds, viruses, and other illnesses.

Soothe Tired Muscles

You can find relief from tired, achy muscles in a sauna. The heat will help to loosen the stiff, overworked and tense muscles and supports quick healing of the muscle tissue.

Promote a Healthy Heart

Regular sauna visits can improve cardiovascular health by conditioning the heart. The heat makes your heart work harder, increasing heart rate, and in essence, giving it a workout. This will keep blood flowing more properly and decrease heart-related risks.

Enhance Your Experience

To enhance your sauna experience, check out our Menthol Crystals. These all-natural crystals are colorless and clear, and a natural by-product of steam distilled peppermint essential oil. In the sauna, these crystals release a dry heat-generated aromatherapeutic vapor.

Our Menthol Crystals can be placed in a small container near the heat source in your sauna or steam room or placed in a metal bowl in direct contact with the heat source. You can also scatter them between the wooden slats on the floor of the sauna.

The beneficial vapors will rise into the warmth of the room and naturally augment the benefits we mentioned above.

What other benefits do you experience from the sauna? Please share them with us below!

Why You Should Diffuse Eucalyptus in Your Spa this Fall

Why You Should Diffuse Eucalyptus in Your Spa this Fall

The woody-sweet scent of eucalyptus is refreshing, energizing, and pleasing to many. When diffused in your spa this fall, it can be an exhilarating part of your customer’s experience.

Follow Your Nose: Scent Marketing
Think back to your most favorite holiday as a child. (Christmas or Thanksgiving, perhaps?) You can envision the lights, the sounds, and — most likely — the smells from that time of year as well. Cookies baking, peppermint candies, or even the scent of a breeze through an open window might come to mind.

That’s because the sense of smell is powerful and can stir up a memory or evoke an emotional response. And it’s the same for your customers. You can build responses and create deeper connections through scent marketing, using the sense of smell to improve customer experience, nurture brand loyalty, and increase sales.

Large retail chains diffuse scents throughout the year to influence customer behavior and set themselves apart from the competition. Diffusing eucalyptus in your spa this fall will appeal to the emotional side of your customers and make for a memorable experience, one they will want to return to again.

Breathe Easy: Seasonal Allergies
Let your guests (and you and your staff!) breathe easier as they open the doors with the use of eucalyptus. Well-known for its aromatherapeutic benefits, this essential oil can help alleviate symptoms of a variety of ailments. This includes seasonal allergies, which affect so many people as summer turns into fall.

However, relief can be found in your diffuser with eucalyptus. This fresh, healing oil is decongestant in nature. Eucalyptus is a top choice for seasonal allergy symptom relief. Your customers will enjoy the revitalizing, sensory pleasing effects along with the health benefits allowing them to breathe easy.

Work With Less Effort: Clean as you Steam
Some of the same properties in eucalyptus that support health and allergy relief can keep your entire spa, steam room, or sauna clean in a natural, non-toxic way. The natural properties in eucalyptus oil wipe out germs without the need for harsh chemicals.

As a spa owner or operator, you can put these wonderful properties to work effortlessly for you. Eucalyptus oil will clean and prevent mold and mildew — while you steam! This is a benefit on top of the uplifting scent your guests will love.

If you are ready to utilize the benefits of eucalyptus in your spa, our Mystifier Automatic Injection system will help immensely! This device was developed in response to numerous requests from our customers seeking to eliminate hand spraying. Learn more here.

The Importance of Scent Marketing and Aromatherapy in Your Spa

The Importance of Scent Marketing and Aromatherapy in Your Spa

When you walk into your home after being away to college or even just on a vacation, one of the first things that you’ll notice is that comforting scent of home. That smell is made up of a combination of things, for better or for worse — the type of laundry detergent or cleaners that you use, if you have pets, essentials oils that you regularly diffuse, and what you cooked last will all be factors in how your home smells.

Your spa isn’t much different when it comes to scent. But in your spa, you should be using scent marketing to your advantage. Your facility may already smell good, but imagine what the results would be if you were intentional about the scents that you use?

What is scent marketing?

Scent marketing, scent branding, and aroma marketing all refer to the sensory marketing that targets the consumer’s sense of smell in order to improve the customer experience, increase sales, develop brand awareness, and nurture brand loyalty and connection.

Research has shown that scent has the ability to evoke an emotional response and is closely linked with memory, more than any of the other senses. And as many of us know from personal experience, scent can bring us right back to a moment in time, whether positive or negative. Smell is a powerful thing.

Why should you use scent marketing in your spa?

Because of the power that scent holds, you should be using it to your advantage when it comes to your spa. Retailers who use ambient scenting, or diffusing a pleasant aroma in a space, do so in order to influence customer behavior — their intention is to create a pleasant atmosphere with a scent that eventually nudges customers towards a purchase. Data has shown that people stay as much as 44% longer in businesses that smell good.

How can you use scent marketing in your spa?

For steam rooms, we have a total steam room solution with Pure Eucalyptus Oil in commercial sizes, variations, infusions, and custom-blended signature scents as well as our Mystifier Injection System for diffusing our oils into your steam room.

Saunas also benefit from aromatherapy, so use our Menthol Crystals for a dry heat-generated aromatherapeutic vapor. Our Menthol Crystals are available in two commercial sizes and can be used in other dry areas of your spa.

ShowerMists are excellent retail products that clients LOVE to take home! Attractive margins help turn your back room expense into front room revenues.

Why You Should Diffuse Eucalyptus in Your Spa This Summer

Why You Should Diffuse Eucalyptus in Your Spa This Summer

As a spa owner, you are probably bought in on the benefits of steam rooms and saunas like healthier and more radiant skin, improved circulation, relaxation, reduced nerve tension, and more. Why else would you have one, right?

With summer just around the corner, so is the heat, seasonal allergies, and all kinds of activities that have you on the go (sometimes more than when the kids are in school!). There’s no better time to start diffusing eucalyptus in your steam room and sauna to help make your clients’ summer a little bit better.

Here are are a few of the reasons why your spa should diffuse eucalyptus this summer:

It is refreshing and energizing
Summer should be a time of relaxation, right? In theory. In reality, it sometimes seems like we’re making more plans and committing ourselves to more activities instead of taking time to relax. Instead of looking to a shot of espresso for some energy or succumbing to their tiredness and taking a nap, your clients can get a boost by inhaling the benefits of eucalyptus in your steam room or sauna as their afternoon pick-me-up.

It helps with seasonal allergy symptoms
If your clients are feeling sneezy, sniffly, or congested from seasonal allergies, eucalyptus can help with that! Just a few minutes in your steam room or sauna, while eucalyptus is diffusing, can help them breathe easier and feel some relief more quickly.

It can be used for scent marketing
We outlined this in another blog post, but scent marketing can be a game-changer for your business. Scent marketing targets the consumer’s sense of smell in order to improve customer experience, increase sales, develop brand awareness, and nurture brand loyalty and connection. Why not make that happen with a powerful and natural scent like eucalyptus?

It can help keep your spa clean
Beyond just making it smell fantastic, eucalyptus has proven health benefits in wet and humid areas: steam-borne eucalyptus oil wipes out bacteria and microbes before they can get a foothold in a steam room. Mold and mildew become a non-existent worry with a steady diffusion of eucalyptus oil.

If you are ready to utilize the benefits of eucalyptus in your spa, our Mystifier Automatic Injection system will help immensely. This device was developed in response to numerous requests from our customers seeking to eliminate hand spraying. Learn more here.

Benefits of Using a Steam Room

Benefits of Using a Steam Room

Many of us are spending some more time in the gym this time of year, and you may have walked past the steam room without a second thought on if it’s worth staying for an extra 15 minutes before going home. Long story short: yes. It’s totally worth it! Before we hop into all the benefits of using a steam room, let’s clear up a big question you might have:

What’s the difference between a steam room and a sauna? Are they the same?

The short answer is no, they’re definitely different! The biggest difference is that saunas use dry heat and are much warmer. Steam rooms are still warm, but not quite as intense as a sauna. The humidity level is also much higher.

Now that we have that cleared up, let’s jump into all the wonderful reasons to use a steam room:

Decongestion
If you have a stuffy nose from a cold or sinus infection, steam therapy can be amazingly helpful. The combination of warmth and moisture works wonders to open up the nasal passages and thin out mucous to help you recover more quickly.

Improved Circulation
Moist heat really helps to get the blood flowing, especially in the legs and arms. When your circulation improves, so does your heart health. High blood pressure also tends to get lower (side note: this is one of the reasons why you feel relaxed in a steam room!).

Glowing Skin
No need to spend all your money on an expensive facial! Moist steam opens up the pores and releases toxins beneath the skin as well as any dirt, bacteria, or dead skin on the skin’s surface. Because of this, you may have more clear and even skin.

Workout Recovery
There’s a reason why many people sit in the steam room at the gym after a workout – and not just to relax! Moist heat penetrates deep into muscle tissue to aid in healing and also loosens stiff joints. Since we know that steam rooms also improve circulation, all that flowing blood also helps to promote healing.

We love steam rooms on their own, but we also love using some of our many 100% Pure Eucalyptus ShowerMists to amp up  the healing and benefits. Take one of our ShowerMists and spritz a few sprays into the steam (away from your face) and breathe deeply. It’s an easy but effective way to make your time in the steam room even more beneficial.
