Ease Your Stress with Essential Oils

Ease Your Stress with Essential Oils

Because we can’t control everything that happens to us in life, having stressful seasons is just inevitable. But just because it’s inevitable doesn’t mean you just have to lie back and let it consume you. Aromatherapy is a holistic form of treatment using natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being and has been used by humans for thousands of years to deal with things like managing pain, sleeping better, fighting sickness, and – you guessed it! – easing stress.

There are dozens of essential oils that are a great help for easing stress, but here are a few of our favorites:

Lavender

This is one of the most known and well-loved essential oils for aromatherapy, and for good reason. Lavender calms both the body and mind and that allows anxiety and stress to melt away. Studies have shown that people who used Lavender to combat stress and anxiety had great success in relieving generalized anxiety, disturbed sleep, and restlessness.

Lemon

Lemon oil (found in our Citrus-Infused 100% Pure Eucalyptus ShowerMist) has not only also been shown to ease symptoms of stress and depression, but citrus oils also are mood-boosting and uplifting. That’s killing two birds with one stone!

Eucalyptus + Peppermint

When you’re feeling stressed, that often comes with mental fog and just general sluggishness. Eucalyptus and Peppermint are instantly refreshing – bringing mental clarity, boosting your mood, and easing stress.

Now that we know what oils are great for easing stress, there are a few ways that you can integrate them into your life. You can mix oils into a carrier oil like coconut oil and roll them onto your pressure points, inhale them directly from their containers, or – our personal favorite format – in a steamy shower!

There’s no denying the healing powers of a hot shower, but adding one of our 100% Pure Eucalyptus ShowerMists can bring that healing to the next level by using aromatherapy. All of the oils we’ve talked about in the post can be found in one of our ShowerMists.

To use a ShowerMist, simply run a hot shower and then spritz a few sprays into the steam (away from your face). Breathe in all those healing properties.

At the end of a long school day, give those tired feet a rest! Let the shoes air out overnight before wearing again in the morning.

Freshen Up Your Kitchen

No one likes a stinky kitchen! A few quick sprays of our Citrus-Infused Eucalyptus ShowerMist can help keep trash can and garbage disposal odors at bay. Simply spritz a little down the drain or in the bin before you place a new trash bag inside. Want another boost of freshness? Boost Your Mood with Essential Oils

Boost Your Mood with Essential Oils

The new year is such a wonderful new beginning, but sometimes the dark days of winter can put a damper on that fresh start. One of our favorite ways to boost our mood is using essential oils. Many times it’s the physical benefits that get the most talk when it comes to essential oils, but the mental benefits are just as amazing!

Here are a few of the best essential oils you can use to enhance your mood:

Lavender

Lavender is easily one of the most popular essential oils because it is both useful and versatile. It has both stimulating and sedative effects, which is a great combination when it comes to enhancing your mood. Lavender has been proven to ease stress, calm the mind, and treat other emotional stressors and increase your mental activity simultaneously. It pairs beautifully with other oils!

Citrus

Just based on the refreshing and invigorating scent, it’s easy to believe that Citrus oils are amazing mood-enhancers! Our Citrus-Infused Pure Eucalyptus Oil ShowerMist is a blend of orange, lemon, grapefruit, and lime essential oils, which makes it a powerhouse when it comes to brightening your day. Orange is not only uplifting to both the mind and body, but it also fosters creativity. Lemon is invigorating and promotes alertness. Grapefruit provides relief from mental fatigue and Lime is a known stress-reducer. So many amazing benefits all in one place!

Peppermint

Peppermint is another very popular essential oil. Among its incredible health benefits is the ability to calm the mind and ease anxiety as well as help with attention span, memory, and focus. Peppermint is amazing for when you need to get some work done and need to focus on the task at hand.

Now, there are several different ways that you can reap all the benefits of these essential oils now that you know about them. Oils can be applied topically. They can also be used in a diffuser, which is a great option (read more about the benefits of diffusing essential oils here).

Our personal favorite way to get the benefits of these oils is to turn your bathroom into a therapeutic steam room using our ShowerMists. Just turn on the hot water in your shower and when it starts to get steamy, spritz a few sprays of the ShowerMist of your choice into the steam cloud (away from your eyes) and enjoy! You can even mix and match your favorites to get even more benefits.

Using Essential Oils for a Natural Energy Boost

Using Essential Oils for a Natural Energy Boost

If we’re being honest, most of us probably deal with low energy at least once in awhile. This could be from a variety of factors: lack of sleep, hormonal imbalance, stress, poor eating habits, and so much more. Instead of resorting to energy drinks or shots of espresso (which will most likely make you crash even harder after their effects wear off!), try using essential oils as a natural and more sustainable energy boost.

Three of our favorite oils for a natural energy boost are Eucalyptus, Citrus, and Peppermint. All of these oils have dozens of amazing properties, and boosting energy is one of them! Just a sniff or two can be enough to invigorate you during that 2pm slump.

Here are a few more ways to use these oils for a natural energy boost:

Add them to your diffuser

A diffuser is a great way to get all the benefits of essential oils while going about your day. It’s easy and makes your home smell amazing. You don’t just have to use one of these oils at a time – try making your own cocktail of essential oils!

Citrus oils combined with peppermint are a great wintery combination that will not only energize you, but will help cleanse the air in your home and improve focus.

Apply topically

Rub a few drops of either Eucalyptus, Citrus, or Peppermint Oil on your temples (be careful around your eyes!) and on other pressure points like your wrists to get the benefits into your system. After you apply, take a few deep breaths directly from the bottle for an instant pick-me-up.

Use our ShowerMists

Run a steamy shower in the morning and spritz a few sprays of either our 100% Pure Eucalyptus, Citrus-Infused, or Mint-Infused Eucalyptus ShowerMists into the steam. Or you can try mixing them like in your diffuser! This is a great way to get all the benefits of these amazing essential oils into your system right away in the morning.

Healing Dry Skin with Lavender Oil

Healing Dry Skin with Lavender Oil

When the air becomes colder and more dry during the winter months, many people often find that their skin also becomes dry and itchy. There are tons of dry skin remedies out there, but our favorite is a more natural approach: Lavender.

Lavender essential oil is most commonly known for its calming properties. Many people diffuse it next to their bed while they sleep or rub it on their pulse points before bed to ensure a restful night’s sleep. Not only will Lavender help calm your mind, it will help calm your skin as well.

Here are a couple ways to heal your dry skin with Lavender:

Dilute it in a carrier oil and moisturize

Your first instinct when your skin starts to feel dry might be to slather on a thick layer of lotion or body butter, BUT that actually may not be helping as much as you think it is. When using thick creams or lotions, many of them will not completely penetrate the skin to really moisturize because they’re so thick.

Instead, find a carrier oil that you love (fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil are a great place to start), add a few drops of Lavender, and rub that into your skin. Not only will these moisturizing oils help along with the Lavender, they will absorb into the skin more quickly and completely than most lotions.

Use our Lavender-Infused Pure Eucalyptus ShowerMist

Turn on the hot water in your shower and wait for the room to get steamy. Spritz a few sprays of the ShowerMist into the steam cloud and spray again as necessary while you soak in (literally!) the benefits.

Not only will you feel relaxed afterward, your skin will also thank you for all the moisturizing properties that Lavender has!

While you are using Lavender to heal your dry skin this winter, you’re also getting its other wonderful benefits as well. You’ll feel more relaxed AND your skin will thank you.
