Mental Health can be such a buzz word these days. Most of what we see on the news, is about someone whose mental health is impaired to the point that something has gone wrong. But we as a society don’t focus enough on our day to day mental health. Because of the news media, it can be seen as a stigma to admit that you are not having the best of mental health days. As May is Mental Health and Awareness Month, here are some facts and tips to help you improve your daily mental health.
Life is stressful! From traffic, to work, to family, there are so many factors that can cause your stress levels to rise. That’s why we as a company feel that even five minutes out of the day to take a breath can leave you ready and willing to face life’s little challenges.
Eucalyptus has been a favorite of aromatherapy users for centuries. Who can’t remember that first time when you stepped into a steam room and took a deep breath of that invigorating Eucalyptus aroma! So why limit yourself to a spa or gym? Now you can take that five minutes in the privacy of your own home! Because of its cooling and refreshing effect, Eucalyptus can help remove your exhaustion and mental sluggishness!
And now we offer Eucalyptus infused with a variety of things that can also be used to aid your daily mental well-being.
Lavender is a common aromatherapy scent that you see everywhere. It can help calm your anxiety and emotional stress so that you can rest and get a good’s night sleep for the next day. Just a few sprays in your shower or on your pillow can help keep you relaxed and ready for the next challenge.
Citrus oil isn’t something that most people think of as an aromatherapy benefit. We all know how great it is for your physical health, but its mental health benefits are just as powerful. It has such a clean and uplifting aroma that helps stimulate your mental focus and clarity while also helping you release your fear and stress.
Mint is such a powerful scent that it has been used for many uses over the years. It can help perk you up rather than reaching for that energy drink. But my favorite use? It can help get rid of that 2 P.M. tension headache! Mint has the ability to help improve your circulation and relax those tense muscles. Spraying just a little in your hands and inhaling can hopefully help stave off that headache before it can become worse.
And finally, we come to what we all think of as a stress relief: YOGA! By helping release tension and stress, yoga poses and exercises help keep you free and ready to face your day. It can also be used to help lower your blood pressure and heart rate which just might help resolve anxiety and depression naturally. That’s why we created our Lavender-Infused Eucalyptus Yoga Mat Cleaner so that the relaxation you get from your session, doesn’t get ruined by harsh smells as you clean your mat and go about your day.
So remember, take that time, even if it’s just five minutes out of a day, for yourself this month! Breath deep, close your eyes and relax. Because it’s May and time for summer!
As soon as a headache starts to make its way around your eyes and ears, you know you’re in for a battle, and the battle could knock you out all day. Not only do you want to have a dependency on strong pain killers, but your stomach can’t handle them. They’re harsh and toxic and can lead to serious illness. Instead, it’s important to treat the problem naturally as well as try to treat the root of the problem.
Migraines and headaches are most commonly the result of extreme tension in the neck, shoulders and back. They can also be the side effect of dietary or other allergic sensitivities and illnesses, so don’t rule those out if you haven’t already checked with your doctor. But since most are tension related, I want to share some ways to alleviate the pain quickly and naturally, as well as maintain your body to avoid more pain in the future.
First of all, remember that all the muscles, nerves and bones in your body are interconnected. If you’re having a headache on the left side of your head, it could be a result of tightness in the right hip, because the muscles cross over and intertwine all over the body. So when you start to feel a headache, begin to stretch from toe to head – yes, in that direction.
Start by standing tall and rolling your feet and ankles. Move to stretching your hamstrings and lower back by bending forward. Twist right and left a few times while bent over. Alternate arching your spine forward and outward and then roll back up into standing. From there, roll your shoulders backwards and stretch your arms up and out, while rotating your hands up, down, in and out. You should feel this in your forearms especially. Then move to your neck. First straighten your spine, imagining making your neck extra long. Once you’ve elongated your neck, lean it to the right, then to the left and then down with your chin to your chest.
From there, gently take your hand and add a little bit of pressure to your head in the direction of your stretch to take it a little further.
Take as much time as you need on each area of the body. Spend more time on areas that have more resistance or tension – but don’t force or strain anything.
To really get the most out of this, add a few sprays of our Lavender-Infused Eucalyptus Oil Shower Mist to your hot shower (with the bathroom door shut to trap the heat) or add it to a steam room or sauna, and then do the stretches. The heat will relax your muscles while the eucalyptus reduces the inflammation and increases circulation.
This method is incredibly beneficial and helpful. So if you are one that suffers from migraines, headaches, be sure to grab a bottle of our Lavender-Infused Eucalyptus Oil ShowerMist to experience calming, natural relief.
I could not wake up this morning. But I have some secrets that help boost my energy even on my ‘snooze button’ days, so I wasn’t too stressed. I also know I’m not alone and other people would love to know what I do for my boost.
These Tips Will Help You Stop Hitting Snooze and Give You More Energy for Your Day!
Warm Lemon Water
This one works to give you that ZING and also cleanses… even your skin will look great after doing this a few days in a row! 1/2 Lemon. One mug of water. Honey to taste with a dash (or tsp) of cayenne pepper. GOOD MORNING!
We both know that with very little sleep, you’re likely to reach for a caffeinated beverage. If you’re so wise to choose tea – steep your tea as usual but then apply the tea bag to your under eye area. If you can listen to some energizing music and lay down for 5 minutes like this, you will feel more energized AND your eyes will look brighter!
Eucalyptus Oil Shower
This one is great and wonderfully refreshing! Simply take the eucalyptus oil shower spray and spritz it into the steam of the shower! The naturally occurring menthol will open up your lungs and rejuvenate you from the inside out.
I recommend keeping a small bottle of peppermint next to your bed. When you wake up (or during your daily lull), open the bottle and inhale deeply. You can even dab a few drops on your hairline, crown of the head and at the back of the neck. You’ll be boosted quickly and ready to take on the world!
We hope you find these tips useful and able to give you the energy boost you’re needing both inside and out! Have a beautiful day, from all of us at Eurospa!j
Headaches can be a real day stopper and have the unpleasant gift of showing up at the most inconvenient times! I don’t like over the counter medicine and love to find alternatives. So, when a headache shows up during my busy day of work, the house and kids, I need some ways to cure the pain at home with quick and natural remedies.
I gathered up my tried and true and am happy to share with you my favorite ways to cure a headache at home:
Applying eucalyptus oil to your forehead can be incredibly soothing for stress headaches in the same manner as peppermint oil. (see below) Like peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil can soothe, relax muscles and clear nasal passages. It’s great to inhale as well, because it has anti microbial properties that can help attack germs and viruses that may be causing the headache. Either put a few drops of eucalyptus oil into a bowl of steaming water and inhale deeply or take advantage of our Eucalyptus Oil Shower Spray, while enjoy a nice shower or bath!
This is a good one to keep in the car! Store a little bottle of peppermint oil in your glove box for those headaches on the go. Rubbing even a few drops on your temples has proven to relieve the pain of tension headaches. Peppermint oil creates a relaxing cooling sensation once in contact with the skin and helps ease the tension in your head and neck muscles. The scent also has the power to calm your nerves and clear your sinus passages, which can help greatly if your headache is caused by stress or sinus pressure.
Lavender’s scent has an incredibly strong effect on the nervous system, including relieving problems such as sleep issues, anxiety and stress, which can all contribute to headaches. Some evidence suggests that lavender can even help relieve the pain of even the migraines! Simply place a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow, create a spray by diluting the oil in water and spray into the room around you, create a lavender sachet or brew a cup of lavender tea to take full advantage of this natural headache reliever.
Of course there are some other common home remedies that should not be forgotten.
- Hydrate! Try to drink 2-3 liters per day.
- Sleep! Get 7-9 hours each night.
- Massage! Gently massage your middle and index finger at your temples.
- Relax! We over schedule ourselves too often. Stop. Pause. Breathe deeply.
Take charge of your health with the power of natural medicine! We love doing what we can to help which is why we began Eurospa in the first place. Come visit us and see how we can make your world a healthier place!
