Get Faster Relief from Muscle Pain

Get Faster Relief from Muscle Pain

After you’ve hit the gym and gotten in a really good workout, you probably feel great. Like you’re on top of the world. The endorphins are flowing and you feel energized. But there’s a small thought in the back of your head – this is going to hurt in the morning. You get out your foam roller and go to town, but it only does so much. You still feel sore the next morning.

Instead of always needing to default to over-the-counter pain medications, why not try some natural pain relief? Essential oils and other natural products are a great way to help ease muscle soreness and stiffness. Here are a few of our favorites and how to use them:

Menthol Crystals
These are a game-changer when it comes to muscle pain and soreness, and because their properties are so concentrated, you don’t need much product to make a difference. Here is a simple recipe to make an all-natural muscle salve that you can rub into any sore muscle for pain relief:

Ingredients:
2T coconut oil
2T shea butter
2T beeswax
4T almond oil
1t menthol crystals
30 drops eucalyptus essential oil
10 drops lavender essential oil

Instructions:

  1. Measure out the coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax and melt them on low heat.
  2. Remove from heat, and stir in the menthol crystals until they’re dissolved. Be sure to keep your face away from the mixture so you don’t irritate your eyes or nose.
  3. Once the crystals are dissolved, mix in the almond oil, followed by the essential oils.
  4. Pour the mixture into a container that has a tight lid, but allow the mixture to cool before putting the lid on.
  5. Store in your refrigerator to maintain texture and shelf life.

Lavender Oil
Lavender is known and loved for its calming and relaxing properties and it can do the same for your muscles as it does your mind. One effective way of using lavender specifically for sore muscles is to add the essential oil to a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil and use it as a massage oil. Working the oil deep into your muscles allows those effects to really get where it’s most needed.

Peppermint Oil
Peppermint contains menthol, which brings a much-needed cooling effect when you’re sore. It’s also anti-inflammatory. If you have access to a steam room, bring our Mint-Infused Pure Eucalyptus ShowerMist along with you to get both the benefits of Peppermint and the steam room (read this blog post to read more about the benefits of steam rooms). Simply spritz a few sprays of the ShowerMist away from your face and breathe in and feel the benefits.

Astonishing Benefits of Eucalyptus in Massage Therapy

Everyone loves a massage. They’re relaxing, feel great, and leave you feeling happier about life, ready to live to the fullest. But it’s not just the massage that puts you in such a great mood. It’s the oils massage therapists use that give you lasting effects. And one of the best is Eucalyptus.

Benefits of Eucalyptus in Massage Therapy and Spa Treatments

Relieves Muscle Pain

Eucalyptus relaxes your muscles, making it ideal for massage therapy. Its potency allows deep penetration healing, targeting central muscle fibers and joints. This brings down inflammation, removes aching, and converts stiffness into loose, flexible muscles. Thus, the oil is particularly effective when applied to your back and shoulders. So, if you’re looking to alleviate any muscle or joint pain, a Eucalyptus oil-based massage could be exactly what you need.

Alleviates Respiratory Ailments

Massaging Eucalyptus onto your chest and back can alleviate symptoms from respiratory ailments such as asthma. Again, this is a result of Eucalyptus’ potency, making it perfect for aromatherapy and proving to be helpful for all sorts of lung and breathing issues.  This will also soothe your sinuses, allowing you to breathe easy. With regular Eucalyptus use, you can begin to heal respiratory ailments, or at the very least, effectively negate their harm to your health.

Eliminates Stress

Where on your body do you carry the most stress? Whether it’s in your neck, shoulders, back, or elsewhere, rubbing Eucalyptus on said area will eliminate stress and relax your body. Reducing stress can remove pain in your body, reduce mental exhaustion, and allow you to live a healthier life.

Eucalyptus in the Home

And did you know that you can bring the spa to you? With our Eucalyptus ShowerMists, you can experience the above benefits by using Eucalyptus to heal your body in the comfort of home. Find relief from your day-to-day aches and pains by making Eucalyptus oil a part of your daily routine.

The Best Way to Kick Your Migraine Naturally and Fast

The Best Way to Kick Your Migraine Naturally and Fast

There’s nothing worse than feeling a migraine creep in. Whether you feel it in your eyes, your neck or all over, you know you’re in for a rough day. But before you reach for a whole bottle of pain pills, I want to tell you something important.

Most commonly, headaches migraines are triggered or exacerbated by stress of the emotions or body, making relaxation an important part of headache treatment. So when the pain hits, ask yourself what might be causing your stress and ask if there’s something small or big you can do to eliminate it at least for the day.

Usually, when we are stressed, our muscles tighten, causing our nerves to spasm. And the most common areas that this happens is at the temples, all around the base of the skull, around the ears and under the jaw. So get in a relaxed seated position and feel what area feels the tightest and gently stretch and massage those areas. Do make sure to focus some good attention to the joint of your jaw; massage downward as you open and close your mouth. Then be sure to hook your finger just under the edges of your jaw and apply pressure. Does it feel tight and sore? Apply the pressure (not too hard) until you feel it’s beginning to relax and then move to the next spot. From the jaw, rub your fingers downward along the front/sides of your neck, all the way down to the collar bone. Rub along the top and bottom of your collar bone as well. When you picture all of this, you see how interconnected all the muscles are. In our daily lives we spend so much time at computers and on our phones that our muscles tighten in those positions. Add stress and muscle tightening to the equation and you end up with the dreaded migraine.

Now do the stretches and massage and take it further by adding heat and aromatherapy. For many generations, aromatherapy has been used to relieve stress and pain for pain, and is quite safe, provided you use them as directed.

Eucalyptus
The most efficient solution is Eucalyptus. The leaves and oil of the eucalyptus tree are used for many medical purposes. Eucalyptus oil is said to help reduce swelling, increase circulation, clear nasal congestion, and relieve pain. Full-strength essential oil of eucalyptus should never be taken by mouth or rubbed on the skin. It should be diluted first. (everyday health)

The best way to enjoy the benefits of Eucalyptus for headaches, migraines and muscle tension is through steam – using our eucalyptus oil shower spray in both a shower or steam room. You’ll quickly feel the pressure lighten and your body relax. Try the massage I told you about, while in the shower or steam room and see how quickly you find relief!

Other oils that can provide headache relief are Lavender, Rosemary and Peppermint. Here’s a little information on each of those.

Lavender
Lavender oil comes from the plant’s blue-violet flowers. Some small research studies suggest that lavender oil has a calming effect when its scent is inhaled. It may also help reduce pain — aromatherapists often use it to help treat headache. Just place a few drops of lavender oil into boiling water and inhale the vapors. Lavender oil can also be rubbed into the skin for pain relief. But keep it away from your mouth and eyes — it’s toxic if ingested by a non-therapeutic grade brand.

Rosemary
Rosemary is another essential oil that is frequently used in aromatherapy. Rosemary oil applied to the skin has been used to treat muscle pain and improve circulation, so it makes sense that it could help relieve migraine or headache pain. One study supports the use of rosemary for reducing stress and anxiety. Essential oil of rosemary may be added to base oil and rubbed into the skin. It can also be added to bathwater, but avoid contact with the eyes or any open cuts.

Peppermint
Peppermint is a cross between watermint and spearmint plants, and it grows wild in Europe and North America. Peppermint oil is used in aromatherapy for headache as well as muscle and nerve pain. This essential oil can be inhaled, applied to the skin after being diluted with another oil, or taken by mouth in very small doses. Some pain studies show that peppermint oil used as aromatherapy for headache may allow people to use fewer traditional pain medications.

If you deal with headaches or migraines, we don’t envy you. But we do want to provide you with relief. Use the techniques taught to you today and support your health with the highest quality essential oils possible. Dreading the Holidays? Here Are Some Tips to Help You Enjoy Them & Recover!

Dreading the Holidays? Here Are Some Tips to Help You Enjoy Them & Recover!

Being around family isn’t easy. Some people love it, some people hate it and others just do it because they’re supposed to. If it’s a torture to you, we want to give you an idea for recovering from it that you’ll love. And if you’d like to enjoy it, we’ve got some tips to share there too.

Have a better holiday than the years before and come out feeling good about it. Here’s how:

Remember the truth: This time is temporary and this is your family. You didn’t choose them, but here they are. Love the good inside them and don’t waste your time arguing. You’re not likely to change anyone’s opinions so don’t bother. If they need to think or act differently that’s their own growth to go through. They’ll grow much faster if you sit back and love them.

Simple Conversation: Avoid talking about major issues, family grudges, politics and personal choices. Talk about simple things like music, the books you’re reading, family vacations or the latest movies. And if the complex topics arise, refer to the last point. Don’t waste your time trying to prove something to anyone. It’s always a dead end or painful experience.

Find Kindness: Look for ways to be kind. Compliment people. Listen carefully and attentively to the other person. (If you’re not bothering to argue or convince them of anything, this should be easy to do, and good practice for your communication skills!) Take it further and look for opportunities to tell people why you appreciate them and what you admire about them. This is sure to up-level the mood in the air.

Recover: It’s no easy task handling family. When you’re done, you want to go home, fall on the couch and put your feet up. So do it. But upgrade the experience. All that effort and conversation (and avoiding arguments) can make you tense and tired. So make sure you have a couple bottles of our Pure Eucalyptus Oil ShowerMist, because this will calm your muscles, nerves and mood down so fast. Run a hot shower and spritz a couple sprays into the steam. Get in and just stand there. Breathe. Aromatherapy at this level will work wonders for you. And when you’re done – relax. Put on a movie, read a book or go to bed. You’ve done well.

The holidays are a perfect time for us to be better people. It’s not easy and definitely takes practice, but you can do it. And when you’re done exercising this muscle, you get sweet relief.

From all of us at Eurospa Aromatics, have a beautiful holiday.
