Enjoy Rejuvenating Health with Menthol Crystals!

Menthol Crystals are being talked about more and more these days, but do you really know what they are and how they will benefit you? Originally known as Japanese Mint, the herb was exported out of Japan and into India. Currently grown in northern India, the leaves of this incredible herb contain 70 percent menthol, releasing a powerfully pleasant aroma of mint. The crystals offer the world many ways and applications to take advantage of it’s wonderfully healing nature.

Let’s look at a some more information and ways that you can invite this plant’s power into your own life, health and home.

Description

A natural product, menthol crystals contain and release a cool and refreshing smell of mint. Derived from the extraction of oil from mint, menthol is an herbal compound, formerly known as peppermint camphor. The crystals work well in any product requiring a strong flavor or aroma, with the added bonus of its ability to relieve pain and soothe the body.

Uses in Health and Beauty:

Menthol crystals are added to other great ingredients used in cosmetics, creams, toothpaste, dental rinses, cough drops and even shampoos.  Because of its analgesic properties, menthol crystals can relieve body aches and soothe muscle pains.  On a more precise and symptomatic level, the essence of menthol can clear up coughing and breathing problems. Simply place a few crystals in the steam of your shower or steam room and inhale the vapors to clear your sinuses. Rub the crystals along the shower walls and the steam will release menthol while you rejuvenate in the shower. With the combination of the heat and menthol  your sinuses will open, your body aches will be relaxed and throat pain will be soothed. Menthol crystals will also dissolve in alcohol and oil, allowing their strong smell to make them a desirable product for home fragrances and perfumes.

For Use In the Home:

When using menthol crystals at home to prepare various products like a salve or fragrance, always wear a mask. Avoid placing your head directly over the bowl or other container containing the crystals. The smell of 100 percent menthol crystals is very powerful. Menthol crystals are soluble in alcohol and oils like olive oil but not in water. They melt around 107 degrees Fahrenheit. Ratios of 5 to 20 per cent menthol are common but for home use start with a low percentage until you develop a feel for the potency of the crystals and your own tolerance.

For Topical Use:

Menthol crystals can be used topically to soothe sore and stiff muscles, but make sure they are diluted with a carrier oil such as olive, coconut or jojoba oil.  Rub the crystals in the carrier, over the area of the skin where the muscles are sore.  The first sensation that you’ll feel will be an icy cooling, followed by numbness and partial incapacity of muscle use. This occurs, as the menthol crystals stimulate the nerve endings in the skin, creating that cold and numbing sensation.

Don’t Stress! Making Natural Cleaning Supplies at Home is Easy!

You may think it takes too much time and effort to make your own natural cleaning supplies at home, but it’s easier than you realize and studies show us that toxic, conventional cleaning supplies are bad or your health, your child’s health and the health of the planet.

The truth is, these recipes are simple and you will feel great peace of mind knowing that you are bettering the overall health of your home. We’ve gathered the ingredients needed for you to make the most basic, natural multi-purpose cleaning supplies, quickly and convenient for your busy schedule.

Ready for it?

Here’s what you’re going to need:

  • baking soda
  • white vinegar
  • lemons
  • castille soap
  • essential oils (lemon, tea tree, lavender, thyme, eucalyptus & orange are all options)
  • spray bottles

For the Windows: For those that love vinegar, you’re going to love this one. You just mix 3 tablespoons of vinegar with 2 cups of water into a spray bottle (bigger jobs – 1/2 cup V to 1 gal of H2O) and spray right on to your windows. Is this effective?  Yes. Does it smell good? No. If you can’t handle the smell, a mix of lemon juice and club soda will do the trick just as well. Do make sure that if you use lemon juice, you use lint free cloth like newspaper to wipe them down with.  (you can also add a little lemon juice to the vinegar solution as well, just avoid pulp)

All Purpose Germ Killer: This one is easy. Mix 2 cups of water with a few drops of castille soap and about 15 drops of your chosen essential oils. You can spray this on all kinds of surfaces in your home from changing tables  and fixtures to counter tops and walls. Just don’t use it on glass, because the soap will make it streak.  Additionally, you can use our own Eucalyptus Shower Spray, not only to enrich your shower experience but also to cleanse the air by spraying it into the air and on to surfaces.

For the Toilets:  Everyone’s favorite place to clean right?  This one is simple.  You can take some of the window cleaner you made (preferably with the lemon juice) and spray generously around and inside the toilet.  Then sprinkle some baking soda on top of it and let it sit for about 10 minutes.  Come back, scrub and watch it shine!

Prevent Mold: Mold is incredibly dangerous for you and your family and once it starts, it’s extremely hard to get rid of!  So start with prevention.  Take a spray bottle with 2 cups of water and add about 5 drops of tea tree and thyme oil to the bottle.  Spray on walls, in closets, in bathrooms and behind furniture and then wipe down.  The anti-septic and anti-mircrobial nature of tea tree and eucalyptus oil will combat the mold before it really has a chance to take over.

At Eurospa, your health is our priority.  We want you healthy on the inside and out.   We hope you enjoyed this list and would like to invite you to experience our Eucalyptus Shower Mist & Menthol Crystals for an even more enhanced, natural health experience!

Mother’s Day: The Gift She’ll Love All Year

Mother’s Day: The Gift She’ll Love All Year

Mothers are beyond deserving of honor and every year, we stress about just what to get these incredible women.  After all, thy know what they want and shop perfectly well for themselves.  But you don’t want to be that person that repeated presents gift cards, do you?  Nothing wrong with gift cards, but the personal thought that goes into a personalized gift speaks volumes of gratitude to these nurturing givers.

mother's day gift ideas for moms that deserve love, honor and pampering. Create their own spa day, post workout recovery treatment, cold remedy and skin cleansing system. What if you were able to impact their life every single morning in a way that would change their attitude about the day right at the start? What if I were to tell you that there was a gift you could give that would not only start a lady’s day right, but give her a healthier body and even more beautiful skin?

My suggestion?  Give her her own personal sized Eucalyptus Shower Spray.   This may seem over simplified, but once you know the benefits (and how much women love multi-beneficial gifts) I promise, you will see what a treasure it is and how wonderful of a gift it is to give.

  • Applying eucalyptus oil to your forehead can be incredibly soothing for stress headaches in the same manner as peppermint oil. (see below) Like peppermint oil, eucalyptus oil can soothe, relax muscles and clear nasal passages.  It’s great to inhale as well, because it has anti microbial properties that can help attack germs and viruses that may be causing the headache. Either put a few drops of eucalyptus oil into a bowl of steaming water and inhale deeply or take advantage of our Eucalyptus Oil Shower Spray, while enjoy a nice shower or bath!
  • If she enjoys working out, she’ll likely want to avoid sore muscles after the work out.  For topical help, spray onto muscles followed by another oil base, like almond or jojoba and you’ll quickly have a muscle recovery rub!  The oil penetrates deep into the tissue (more so in the heat of the sauna) for an anti-inflammatory effect.  When using the spray, simply spritz into the shower steam or the sauna/steam room.  The oil in the air will then enter your lungs and be carried off to nurture the needier parts of your well-worked muscles.
  • Most women love to look their best.  One simple way is to steam and cleanse the skin.  Go traditional and simply add our eucalyptus shower spray to one pint of steaming water in a large bowl or pot. Lean over the container, covering your head with a towel and allow your face to take in the steam for 5-10 minutes. (Alternatively, while your in the bath, add it to the bath water) This supports the skin’s natural self cleansing functions, opening pores and reducing buildup and eruptions.
Mother’s Day is a wonderful time to celebrate the beautiful women in our lives.  Whether sister, friend, grandparent or your own mother, be sure to honor these nurturers that give themselves to love year after year.   Tell her she’s beautiful.  Treat her to pampering.  Give her the gift that loves back.
Happy Mother’s Day.

Why Every Parent Should Keep Eucalyptus Oil in the Home

Why Every Parent Should Keep Eucalyptus Oil in the Home

Eucalyptus oil uses have long been known to include aiding the respiratory system, including asthma attacks, bronchitis infections, colds, and more. But surprisingly, there are still dozens more uses for this essential oil. It’s camphorous, slightly sweet aroma is more commonly known for it’s support of the respiratory system and any issues involving it, as well as many skin related concerns.

Whether you use the oil mixed into another base oil for massage directly in to the skin,  diffuse the oil, or even spray it when cleaning both home and body, there is always a way to incorporate eucalyptus into your family health and safety regimen.

Here is a great list of uses and benefits of eucalyptus oil that every parent and family should read and know about!  And please, pass this on to your friends and family, as we know that a healthy planet, begins with being informed!

Arterial Vasodilator
Eucalyptus will help dilate the circulatory system, increasing circulation. Use 1 drop during massage over any area of concern.
Asthma
During an asthma attack, massage 1-2 drops over the chest. Also, inhale the aroma directly or diffuse in the air.
Brain Blood Flow
Diffuse or spray the mist throughout the home or classroom to increase circulation to the brain.
Bronchitis
Use topically or aromatically, massaging into the chest, back and throat, inhaling from the bottle, or dropping the oil on the shirt collar.
Congestion
Eucalyptus oil uses included clearly congestion from the airways. I recommend inhaling for nasal congestion and massaging the oil over all other affected areas.
Cooling
Yes, eucalyptus oil uses even include cooling the body down. Place several drops in a spray bottle, along with peppermint oil if you’d like some extra oomph, and spritz over the body.
Coughs
Diffuse or spray throughout the room throughout the span of the illness, but also massage into the reflex points of the feet (follow the application guidelines in the link above), as well as over the chest, back, and throat. *Be sure to add the shower mist spray to a hot shower, bath or steam room, as this will quickly break through congestion and mucous for faster relief of respiratory conditions.
Diabetes
Because of the vasodilation mention above, using eucalyptus on a daily basis can increase circulation, a common issue for diabetics. I recommend massaging it into the body with lotion after each shower, as the massage will also help increase circulation.
Disinfectant
Its antiviral and antibacterial properties naturally make cleaning among one of the eucalyptus oil uses. Follow this household cleaners guide for more information.
Dysentery
Massage 2 drops of eucalyptus over the abdomen in a counter-clockwise direction to ease diarrhea, inflammation, and fight infection.
Ear Inflammation
Never put essential oil IN the ear canal! However, you can massage the oil on and around the outer ear. Use only 1 drop to start, diluted for children.

Expectorant
To help drain mucus from the lungs, massage 1 drop into the reflex points of the feet and apply another drop over the chest at least once a day (I’d personally do three times a day if no sensitivity is found).
Fever
Because eucalyptus oil uses include cooling the body (above), using during a high fever can help the body regulate its temperature and support its efforts in fighting infection.
Flu
Depending on your flu symptoms, eucalyptus oil uses will vary. You can apply to the abdomen to ease diarrhea, massage into aching joints and muscles, or simply diffuse through the air to fight infection.
Hypoglycemia
Another of eucalyptus oil uses, you can help regulate your blood sugar by massaging 1-2 drops into the soles of the feet daily.

Neuralgia
Another of the little-known eucalyptus oil uses, massaging into the areas of concern daily can reduce pain.
Neuritis
Along with neuralgia, massage several drops into the reflex points of the feet and over the affected areas can reduce inflammation.
Overexercised Muscles
Strain, fatigue, etc can all be treated with a gentle massage of eucalyptus oil. Always massage toward the heart to move the lactic acid buildup through the lymphatic system.
Pain
Depending on the type of pain, eucalyptus oil uses may necessitate application to the reflex points of the feet or directly over the area of concern.
Pneumonia
Help the lungs to clear by diffusing constantly and massaging directly over the lungs. Use the shower mist as often as possible.  It will also help to massage eucalyptus into the reflex points of the hands and feet.
Rhinitis
Reduce inflammation and open airways by inhaling directly from the bottle, massaging one drop over the sinuses, or applying as a hot compress.
Shingles
Eucalyptus oil uses include shingles for its antiviral properties, as well as its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Massage into the affected areas daily, add to a warm bath, or use a hot compress over the area.
Sinusitis
Apply as a hot compress over the sinuses and massage 1-2 drops into the reflex points of the feet (toes and pads of the feet). You can also inhale directly or diffuse throughout the room.
Tennis Elbow
I highly recommend finding a massage therapist who specializes in treating tennis elbow and bringing along your eucalyptus to include in the deep massage of the area.
Tuberculosis
Eucalyptus oil uses include fighting the bacterial infection, clearly the lungs, reducing inflammation and more. Diffuse constantly and massage 2 drops into the chest and over the back.
