How to Protect and Moisturize Dry Skin During Fickle Weather

The sun is shining, wind blowing, and the weather is warming up, and your skin is cracked and thirsty. Not the most complimenting look to your cute new spring outfit, right? Well worry not your dry soul, we have some incredibly useful tips to help you not only moisturize but protect your skin during this crazy changing weather.

Having dry skin means experiencing tightness due to lack of moisture and a need for a proper lubricant to rehydrate it. Many home remedies can help improve your dry, flaky skin on the face.

Here is a 3-step process to moisturize dry skin:

  1. Exfoliate

To really moisturize your skin, you’ve got to get the layer of dead skin cells out of the way. There are a few ways to do this.

  • Dry brush: This is good practice for the whole body and also flushes your lymph nodes, so that’s a double bonus.
  • Lemon juice and sugar: This leaves your skin soft and glowing. With a circular massage of the skin with this beauty scrub, rough spots on the skin become even. However, sugar is more abrasive, and it’s best to avoid the face when using the sugar option. So for the face, you’ll want to substitute baking soda for the sugar; the granules are finer and will be more gentle. But obviously, still avoid the eye area. The vitamin C in lemon is a good astringent that lightens skin tone, removes patches on the skin, and encourages cell growth. Mix a teaspoon of sugar and mix it with the juice of half a lemon. Use cotton balls to scrub it over your face. Put a jar of it on your nightstand and apply it regularly.
  • Use a peel: We prefer natural brands to chemical formulations, but a natural peel will use the same concept as vitamin C, but with stronger formulations. It relies on the fruit acids for exfoliation rather than friction.
  1. Add Water.

Whether you want to use a humidifier or steam, you’ll want to infuse your freshly exfoliated skin with good old H2O. Regardless of what you choose, you can enhance the benefits by adding a few sprays of our Pure Eucalyptus Oil ShowerMist to either the humidifier or whatever steam source you are using. If you opt for steam, a quick, home method is to heat water in a pot on the stove and place a towel over your head with your face near the pot for the day spa effect. Just spray the eucalyptus once into the pot.

  1. Lubricate.

Moisture forms a protective layer on the skin keeping it safe by keeping it hydrated. Oils that are easily absorbed by the skin, such as coconut, jojoba, and almond, tend to be better at keeping the real moisture in. Coconut oil makes the skin feel softer and removes its previous scaly characteristic by moistening it naturally. Coconut oil has sufficient amounts of fatty acid that make up for any loss of moisture from the skin. It works best when left on for an entire night. Apply the proper amount before going to sleep and wash it off in the morning; do this every night. Over the counter creams work well in the beginning but only leave a surface layer of hydration.

Healthy skin isn’t just healthy, it’s a confidence booster and helps you feel better about your appearance. Feel good about yourself, and get ready to tackle life head on.

5 Ways to Use Eucalyptus Oil for a Stronger Immune System

As the cold season continues, it’s even more important to take care of our health and immune system. We hate being laid out, missing school and work, and we aren’t alone. But lucky for all of us, there is a power plant that helps keep us strong, protected, and cleansed to beat the colds that come our way: Eucalyptus. And we want to show you some of the best ways to use it for better health, a boosted immune system, and so much more!

5 Ways You Can Use Eucalyptus to Boost Your Immune System

Colds & Flu: Eucalyptus works as an expectorant. It cleanses your body of toxins and harmful microorganisms that can make you feel sick. One of the most effective ways to utilize eucalyptus for colds is to put our Eucalyptus ShowerMist into a diffuser before going to sleep so you can take advantage of the healing benefits all night long.

For more acute situations, you can make an at-home steam bath by pouring a cup of boiling water into a bowl, spraying the ShowerMist, placing a towel over your head, and inhaling deeply for 5–10 minutes.

Odor Remover: Whether you’re battling smelly shoes or a stinky dog bed, wash these items topically to remove odors with a wet rag, spray them with Eucalyptus, and then place them outside to dry in the sun. This will prevent odors as well as kill any bacteria to keep it from spreading.

Air Cleanser: Try spraying Eucalyptus into your vacuum and dryer filters to freshen and sanitize them. Also, to maintain a mold-free home, mix eucalyptus with other oils like clove and tea tree to cleanse the air around you.

Respiratory Problems: Eucalyptus essential oil is highly effective for treating respiratory problems, such as asthma, bronchitis, COPD, pneumonia, and even tuberculosis. Using eucalyptus for asthma is a proven treatment that dilates the blood vessels and allows more oxygen into the lungs. Simply spray into your shower for a steam version of the ever popular vapor rub remedy.

Hair Nourishment: Give your hair a moisturizing pick-me-up with a few sprays of Eucalyptus oil into coconut or olive oil. This is great for warding off dandruff and an itchy scalp. Also, eucalyptus is used as a natural remedy for lice in replacement of chemical treatments.

As you can see, Eucalyptus has super strengths that go above and beyond when it comes to the support and nourishment of the body’s systems.

5 Ways to Beat Midday Fatigue Fast and Naturally

Nothing’s worse than mental fog and fatigue, but we all seem to battle it. And if you reach for a coffee or soda, you’re only going to make it worse. The sugar and caffeine will help momentarily but keep the fatigue showing up for days, months, and even years to come as they burn out your adrenals.

So what can you do? Here are some natural ways to beat afternoon tiredness, without the side effects.

5 Ways to Overcome Midday Fatigue

Oxygen to the brain

Find a quiet place in your home or workplace that’s free from distraction, but not your bed. Turn on some relaxing music, read, or just sit in the stillness. Take one, then two, then ten deep breaths. This is your opportunity to oxygenate your blood cells and brain for better functioning plus increased energy!

Change it up

Sometimes doing the same repetitious actions make us tired. So change it up. Take a break to move your body, read a book, listen to music, and just live a little. What are the hobbies that make you come alive? How can you incorporate those things into those more sluggish hours?

Get Active

If you can go for a run or stop by the gym first thing in the morning, great! If not, make a plan to implement a small routine into your morning, so you at least set a pattern and habit to care for your mind and body. This will not only set up your day with energy but also affect the rest of your life.

Take an energy shower

Turn up the heat and let your muscles both relax and rejuvenate. Add menthol crystals to the shower steam as well to awaken your senses. Menthol crystals open up your bronchial passageways, allowing you to breathe deeper and get more oxygen to your brain. More oxygen to the brain means more clarity and mental peace. These crystals will add a great vibrancy to your day.

Fuel your body

Take time to eat a balanced meal. Give your body the fuel it needs and remember to drink plenty of water. Chinese medicine states that the morning meal is the fuel your body pulls from most, so be sure to get preventative and eat well at the start of the day.

Beat the afternoon dullness and reenergize your life. You don’t have to be tired anymore. Achieve a life of vitality and vigor.

How to Relieve Your Back Pain And Ditch the Pain Pills Forever

Back pain is no joke. It can really limit what we’re free to experience in life and discourage our spirits. Medication has its place, but it doesn’t mean we need it for every tense muscle or pinched nerve. Menthol and eucalyptus products have lots of benefits to provide for back and muscle pain. So, we want to share with you some simple ways to experience relief naturally, without the pain pills.

3 Ways to Use Eucalyptus for Back Pain Relief

  1. Add 3-5 drops of straight eucalyptus oil directly onto sore muscles. Slowly massage into skin. It’s a strong oil though, and it may be best to dilute with coconut oil first until you know how your body responds.
  2. Add 15-50 drops of eucalyptus oil to a hot bath. Combined with the benefits of the oil, the heat of the water encourages muscles to relax and helps reduce next-day stiffness. For additional benefits, Epsom salts can be added to the water as well.
  3. The easiest option—and our favorite—is to get our top-grade Pure Eucalyptus Oil ShowerMist and simply spray it into the hot steam of your shower, or the warmth of any sauna/steam room. You’ll not only enjoy the relaxation in your muscles, but you’ll be breathing in the anti-inflammatory properties of the eucalyptus, reducing pain caused by inflamed muscles.

Other Tips

See a Chiropractor. Sometimes the solution is far more simple than we realize. Have a chiropractor check your alignment. If your spine is off balance even in one spot, it can pinch the nearby nerves, causing muscle tension and spasms.

Get Acupuncture. Doctors agree that acupuncture provides relief. Your body has a system of nerve nets and pathways all over your body. These pathways can become jammed and create pain. Acupuncture needles help to clear the congestion of the nerves so they can relax.

Drink Water. Hydrated muscles are happy muscles. Dehydration can cause the muscle fibers to become sticky and stiff. Drink more water and avoid food and drinks with caffeine, sugar, processed foods, excess salt, and alcohol.

Breathe Deeper. When we breathe deeply, we send more oxygen to the muscle tissues and calm the nerves. Don’t underestimate the power of 10 deep breaths when you’re in pain.

Remember, the body has an amazing ability to heal itself when supported well through proper lifestyle and health habits. Pain in the body is also a sign of something else going on, so in addition to getting relief naturally, be sure to investigate the cause with your doctor or natural medicine practitioner.

You don’t have to take pills for back pain anymore. Take advantage of true, natural healing today.
