It’s time to stop suffering. Get fast relief from sciatica pain with these natural remedies.
Ease Your Sciatica pain naturally with essential oils
Since sciatica may become worse with touch therapies, one way to effectively ease the pain is through essential oils. This can be done via aromatherapy or by applying a mixture of essential oils with a carrier, such as almond, olive, or jojoba oil to the painful area. Essential oils can also be used in a hot compress applied to the painful area.
Some oils that are commonly recommended, include:
- German Chamomile – German chamomile is a powerful anti-inflammatory. It also stimulates the production of red blood cells. In addition to its sedative properties, German chamomile also acts as an anti-spasmatic and analgesic (pain reliever).
- Sweet Marjoram – Sweet marjoram has many of the same properties as German chamomile. It acts as an anti-spasmatic and promotes deep relaxation. It is also a powerful stimulant and should not be used during pregnancy.
- Cypress Oil – Cypress oil comes from the leaves (needles) and cones of the Mediterranean Cypress trees of Europe. It is used for stimulating blood circulation and is a powerful astringent. Like German chamomile and sweet marjoram, it is also an anti-spasmatic and often used to relieve the cramps, sprains, and strains of athletic injuries as well as the pain of rheumatoid arthritis.
- Eucalyptus– In addition to its uses as a decongestant and germicide, Eucalyptus is an effective analgesic. It also has been found to have a stimulating effect on the mind.
Please keep in mind, that these essential oils should not be applied directly to the skin, but added to a massage lubricant, warm water, steam, or used as a compress. For example:
- If using as a compress, add four drops each of the German chamomile, marjoram, and cypress to about one teaspoon of massage oil, then add that mixture to a small bowl of very warm water. Use a washcloth or small towel to absorb the liquid. Wring it out and apply to the area of pain. Remove when compress becomes cool and repeat.
- If using in a massage session, add one or more of the essential oils in the proportion of 10-15 drops of oil to one ounce of carrier oil or crème. Allow the mixture to sit and blend for two to three hours before using.
- As a pain-relieving bath, 10 drops of essential oil can be added to warm water. Soak the body for no more than 15-20 minutes.
- When using steam, mix 10-20 drops of oil in a 6 oz spray bottle with a little water and fractionated coconut oil, then spray into the steam. You can keep it simple by using our Eucalyptus Oil ShowerMist which you can spray directly into the steam with no hassle. Steam allows essential oils to penetrate the pores and travel internally via the respiratory system.
Always remember to use high-quality essential oils for therapeutic use. Adding essential oils to your self-care is a great way to support your body in its own healing.

4 Natural Ways to Experience Migraine and Headache Relief
Lavender
Lavender oil comes from the plant’s blue-violet flowers. Some small research studies suggest that Lavender oil has a calming effect when its scent is inhaled. It also reduces pain with several aromatherapists often using it to treat headaches. Just place a few drops of Lavender oil into boiling water and inhale the vapors. Lavender oil can also be rubbed into the skin for pain relief.
Rosemary
Rosemary is another essential oil that is frequently used in aromatherapy. Rosemary oil applied to the skin has been used to treat muscle pain and improve circulation, making it useful in relieving migraine or headache pain. One study supports the use of Rosemary for reducing stress and anxiety, which helps prevent headaches and migraines. Rosemary may be added to base oil and rubbed into the skin. It can also be added to bathwater, but avoid contact with the eyes or any open cuts.
Peppermint
Peppermint is a cross between water mint and spearmint plants, and it grows wild in Europe and North America. Peppermint oil is used in aromatherapy for headache as well as muscle and nerve pain. This essential oil can be inhaled, applied to the skin after being diluted with another oil, or taken by mouth in very small doses. Some pain studies show that Peppermint oil used as aromatherapy for headaches may allow people to use fewer traditional pain medications.
Eucalyptus
The leaves and oil of the Eucalyptus tree are used for many medical purposes. Eucalyptus oil reduces swelling, clears nasal congestion, and relieves pain. These properties all help ease headache and migraine pain. Eucalyptus works quickly and effectively and is the preferred essential oil of many for pain of all sorts.
We recommend using Eucalyptus Oil ShowerMist in a shower or steam room. You’ll quickly feel the pressure lighten and your body relax.

If you’re used to getting sinus problems, then we have a solution for you.
Sinus problems hurt, happen inconveniently, and leave you feeling frustrated and desperate for anything that works.
A solution? Eucalyptus oil. In particular, using Eucalyptus in the home shower or in a steam room regularly will help not only the immediate symptoms but also the condition on a long-term basis.
Eucalyptus oil is a steam distilled from the Eucalyptus tree. The oil is taken from the tree’s leaves and extracted for medicinal, pharmaceutical, repellent, flavorings, fragrance, antiseptic, and other uses. Eucalyptus trees and bushes grow in South Africa, Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Chile, and Swaziland.
Eucalyptus is high in an oxide 1,8-cineol (or eucalyptol). Oxides are a compound that has oxygen (technical wording: “a binary compound of an element or a radical with oxygen”). Cineol is the most prevalent of the oxides, meaning Eucalyptus is great as an anesthetic (loss of sensation), antiseptic (reduce the possibility of infection), as well as a strong mucolytic (gets rid of mucus). It thins the mucus in the respiratory tract infections, making it a miracle worker for sinus problems.
Eucalyptus is analgesic, antibacterial, anticatarrhal, anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, insecticidal, and expectorant. This means that eucalyptus may help with acne, bronchitis, ear inflammation, flu, hay fever, high blood pressure, nasal problems such as sinus infections, coughs, congestion, vaginitis, as well as insect repellent.
The benefits are extensive, so making the decision to keep it in your home is an easy one. So stop feeling hopeless and know that you can feel better. See for yourself, with our Eucalyptus ShowerMist and other health improving products!

Everyone has experienced lung congestion one or multiple times. It’s miserable and hard to breathe. You deserve fast acting, natural relief that not only clears the congestion but helps you heal as well.
Regular lung cleansing may just be the answer to many respiratory problems. Since we’re always breathing, problems with the lungs can really slow us down – it’s not something we can just easily ignore. Even the best medicines tend to only help on a temporary basis. And when that help is over, you are left still needing to breathe, right? The beauty of this is that menthol crystals are a remedy you can use at home, that will provide symptomatic relief because the menthol reduces bronchial constriction and airway hyper responsiveness.
Menthol likely sounds familiar to you as the plant essence is often found in mouthwashes, toothpaste, balms, and many other products. It’s the primary active ingredient in essential oil of peppermint that provides the familiar cooling sensation and minty odor and taste. Menthol crystals are produced by rapidly cooling the essential oil of eucalyptus and peppermint. They are very concentrated and if used properly, are very beneficial when used for lung cleansing in small amounts.
Menthol Crystals for Cough and Congestion Support
Lung cleansing products that contain menthol crystals can provide tremendous relief for symptoms of congestion, upper respiratory problems, sore throat and coughs. In fact, most lozenges, cough drops, and respiratory balms will list menthol as the chief ingredient. It’s no surprise, if you’re congested and start inhaling the scent of menthol crystals, you can almost feel the menthol vapors attacking and breaking up lung congestion. The cooling and soothing sensation can be very relieving.
Adding menthol crystals to hot water and inhaling the vapors can begin to soothe congestion and irritated nasal or throat passages. Before getting in the shower, try dissolving some menthol crystals in a little water and add a few drops to the shower walls. The steam will release the menthol and provide you with an invigorating shower that provides aroma therapeutic benefits.
Menthol crystals aren’t just available in small amounts for you to use in the comfort of your home, they can be used in industrial amounts in spas as well. So whether you are the owner of a spa, we would love to enhance the benefits your clientele enjoy’s through these amazing menthol crystals! Just imagine infusing one of your darker steam rooms with menthol essential oils, as your clients’ sinuses and lungs rapidly clear!

Menthol Crystals offer temporary pain relief for sore muscles, providing a local anesthetic with a cool numbing sensation as it penetrates the skin. But how do you use them?
Well, first, a little history. These crystals generally come from India and are extracted from mint leaves with a gentle freezing process.
The properties are so concentrated that just a few crystals are needed to create very powerful effects. *Just beware. It’s important that due to their strength, you may want to wear protective eye wear, gloves and keep the space you are working in well ventilated. They are easy to inhale in small quantities in steam, but when you are creating a recipe, you’ll be working with larger amounts in a dry environment.*
We were blessed to stumble upon these great recipes from
Abby Brown Soaps and are now sharing them with you!
Cooling Foot Soak
*Please use gloves when handling Menthol Crystals – as to not transfer from hands to eyes or other sensitive parts of your body.
- 4 oz Epsom Salt
- 4 oz Fine Dead Sea Salt
- .20 oz Menthol Crystals
- 40 Drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
- 40 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
Add all the ingredients above into a food processor. Mix or pulse until all ingredients are fine ground. Store in jar or zip lock bag. Clean Food Processor thoroughly.
Please note that the amount of menthol crystals in this recipe are the perfect amount for a foot soak, but will be too strong to be used as a body soak. We recommend 1% or less of menthol crystals in body soaks, as to not irritate or cause discomfort on sensitive areas.
- Soothing Menthol Muscle Salve
- 2 tablespoon coconut oil =1oz
- 2 tablespoon shea butter = 1oz
- 2 tablespoon beeswax= 1oz
- 4 tablespoons almond oil = 2oz
- 1.2 teaspoon menthol crystals= .2oz
- 40 drops sweet birch essential oil
- 30 drops eucalyptus essential oil
- 20 drops rosemary essential oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
1) Start by measuring your coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax into a small container and melting the oils on low heat.
2) When the oils have melted, remove from heat and stir in the menthol crystals until dissolved. Be sure to keep your face away from the mixture as to not irritate your eyes or nose.
3) When the crystals are dissolved, stir in the almond oil, followed by your essential oil.
4) Pour your mixture into a container with a lid for storage, but allow to cool before capping. Keep in refrigerator to maintain texture and shelf-life.
Massage a small amount onto sore muscles and joints for soothing relief. Wash your hands after and avoid face, eyes, and other sensitive areas. This recipe makes a mild salve that should be suitable for most skin types, even sensitive skin. You may increase the percentage of menthol crystals for stronger potency, but increase slowly to ensure your skin’s tolerance. We have encountered recipes ranging from 3%-20% menthol crystals, this recipe starts at 4%.

Menthol Crystals are being talked about more and more these days, but do you really know what they are and how they will benefit you? Originally known as Japanese Mint, the herb was exported out of Japan and into India. Currently grown in northern India, the leaves of this incredible herb contain 70 percent menthol, releasing a powerfully pleasant aroma of mint. The crystals offer the world many ways and applications to take advantage of it’s wonderfully healing nature.
Let’s look at a some more information and ways that you can invite this plant’s power into your own life, health and home.
Description
A natural product, menthol crystals contain and release a cool and refreshing smell of mint. Derived from the extraction of oil from mint, menthol is an herbal compound, formerly known as peppermint camphor. The crystals work well in any product requiring a strong flavor or aroma, with the added bonus of its ability to relieve pain and soothe the body.
Uses in Health and Beauty:
Menthol crystals are added to other great ingredients used in cosmetics, creams, toothpaste, dental rinses, cough drops and even shampoos. Because of its analgesic properties, menthol crystals can relieve body aches and soothe muscle pains. On a more precise and symptomatic level, the essence of menthol can clear up coughing and breathing problems. Simply place a few crystals in the steam of your shower or steam room and inhale the vapors to clear your sinuses. Rub the crystals along the shower walls and the steam will release menthol while you rejuvenate in the shower. With the combination of the heat and menthol your sinuses will open, your body aches will be relaxed and throat pain will be soothed. Menthol crystals will also dissolve in alcohol and oil, allowing their strong smell to make them a desirable product for home fragrances and perfumes.
For Use In the Home:
When using menthol crystals at home to prepare various products like a salve or fragrance, always wear a mask. Avoid placing your head directly over the bowl or other container containing the crystals. The smell of 100 percent menthol crystals is very powerful. Menthol crystals are soluble in alcohol and oils like olive oil but not in water. They melt around 107 degrees Fahrenheit. Ratios of 5 to 20 per cent menthol are common but for home use start with a low percentage until you develop a feel for the potency of the crystals and your own tolerance.
For Topical Use:
Menthol crystals can be used topically to soothe sore and stiff muscles, but make sure they are diluted with a carrier oil such as olive, coconut or jojoba oil. Rub the crystals in the carrier, over the area of the skin where the muscles are sore. The first sensation that you’ll feel will be an icy cooling, followed by numbness and partial incapacity of muscle use. This occurs, as the menthol crystals stimulate the nerve endings in the skin, creating that cold and numbing sensation.
